THE VANITY PURGE
Have you ever wanted someone to go through your makeup bag and just PURGE it?? Tell you to Keep It, Toss It or Replace It? With so many products available, finding products you love or want to try can be a bit overwhelming especially if you already have a similar product in your arsenal.
My good friend Hannah is a phenomenal photographer and when she came over, I asked for her makeup bag and brushes. She was extremely hesitant and paused obviously anticipating severe judgment from me. However, I told her to trust the process and let me look inside!
She proceeded to give me reasons why she had what she had and how long she had it. Such as the brush container she got from Costco over 10 years ago…hey that’s good quality! I assured her that I have had some of the same products and brushes for years also and there’s nothing wrong with that.
My favorite item was a petite eyebrow brush she inherited from her Grandmother. I’ve seen these before in Donna Mee’s makeup museum and it’s such a treasure Hannah keeps close to her.
I loved how she had everything separated…brushes, makeup, and lipsticks.

After going through her products, I only had a few suggestions. You can click on the links to see what they were!
- Replace some of her powder brushes…love this small set from NYX
- Buy a concealer…shape tape from Tarte is a current fave
- Toss and buy a new mascara…Voluminous from L’OREAL is an industry standard
- Buy a beauty blender for flawless skin and lash curler from Utowa
- Purchase the sample you love of Trish McEvoy Beauty Balm
- Keep the lipsticks but condense them into a Muji container
Once I finished the VANITY PURGE of her bag. I told her I would take her shopping and help pick out new products. In the meantime, however, I gave her a quick #checkupfromtheneckup with what she already owns.
